Code of Conduct
1. Purpose
The Mount Royal University Squash Club (the “club”) is committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for all members, staff and guests. This code of conduct outlines the expectations for behaviour to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
2. Scope
The code of conduct applies to all club members, guests and participants during all club activities, including but not limited to:

Matches, training sessions and tournaments

Interactions with other members, MRU staff and the public

Communication through email, social media or any other club-related channels
3. Behavioural Expectations
All members and participants are expected to demonstrate:
3.1 Respect for Others

Treat all members, MRU staff and guests with dignity, kindness and respect

Avoid aggressive, abusive or intimidating language or behaviour
3.2 Respect for Facilities and Rules

Follow all MRU Recreation policies and procedures while using MRU facilities

Leave courts and shared spaces clean and in good condition

Use the courts only during officially booked times
3.3 Proper Communication Channels

Direct all concerns regarding court bookings, scheduling, or club activities to the club’s leadership team rather than MRU staff

Communicate respectfully and constructively in all club-related matters, both in-person and online.
3.4 Sportsmanship

Exhibit fairness, honesty and integrity during matches and interactions

Refrain from actions that disrupt the enjoyment of others or tarnish the club’s reputation
4. Prohibited Behaviour
The following actions are strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action:

Harassment, bullying or discrimination of any kind

Aggressive or disrespectful behaviour toward MRU staff, club members or guests

Damage to MRU property or equipment

Public intoxication or inappropriate conduct at club events
5. Reporting Issues or Concerns
Members and staff are encouraged to report code of conduct violations. Concerns can be directed to the club’s leadership team via:

All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly.
6. Disciplinary Actions
Code of conduct violations will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Possible actions include:

Verbal or written warnings

Suspension of club privileges

Termination of club membership

Referral to MRU Recreation or legal authorities (severe breaches)
Disciplinary decisions will be made by the club’s leadership team in accordance with the club’s governance policies.
7. Acknowledgement
All members are required to review and acknowledge the code of conduct annually as a condition of membership.
8. Amendments
The code of conduct may be updated periodically. Members will be notified of any significant changes and required to review and re-acknowledge the updated code.
